We’ve done it!!!

We have received confirmation this morning that Guinness has approved a new world record of 8301 babies changed into a 100% cloth diaper at the same time.
182 sites qualified for the world record by having at least 25 participants at their site and submitting complete evidence.
Those qualifying sites were spread across 5 continents and15 countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Chile, Germany, Spain, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, United States
Another 4 countries held non-qualifying (but cloth-nappy-awareness-increasing!) events: Mexico, Brazil, Korea, Philippines. Another 84 cities hosted events that didn't qualify for the Guinness World Record BUT DID ACCOMPLISH the goal of increasing awareness about reusable cloth diapers and the total unofficial count for the number of babies changed at both qualifying and non-qualifying events was 10,029.
A New World Record On the Way?...
We had such a great time hosting our first Great Cloth Diaper Change event at the Baby and Toddler Show at Bluewater on 20th April together with Bambino Mio and gNappies. We needed 25 participants for our event to qualify towards the final global change total to break last year’s world record of 8,251 babies at 189 locations on 4 continents in 2012 and we ended up with a fantastic 30 mums, dads, babies and cloth bottoms taking part!
We were thrilled to see so many mums, dads and gorgeous little ones turn up for our change, it was lots of fun and the babies were all so good at waiting for the change to start at 11am! We had people taking part who had never used a cloth nappy before, they used one of our pop-in nappies for the change and loved it so much they went on to buy their first cloth nappies at the Baby and Toddler Show straight after! - that sums up the spirit of the event which is all about raising awareness for the benefits of real nappies and it was a great end to an amazing Real Nappy Week!
Evidence for all of the changes has now been collated – 8331 changes from 181 locations worldwide! – this has been submitted to Guinness and in a few days time we will know if we have broken the World Record this year! Keep everything crossed and we’ll let you know when we hear!

Two star buys for Close in the brand new What to Buy for your Baby book
We are all excited about the new release of the “What to Buy for Your Baby” (authors Liat Hughes Joshi and Caroline Cosgrove) - the updated, illustrated version of the essential guide that ensures expectant parents select the most suitable baby products and clothing for their budget and lifestyle and don’t overspend on items they don’t need or won’t use.
With the plethora of products on the market, it can be hard to choose wisely, particularly if time is limited. But now, help is at hand. Two professionals with encyclopedic knowledge of baby products – having tried and tested hundreds – help parents navigate their way through a seemingly impenetrable jungle of equipment and clothing so that parents come away with just the items they need. For readers who use this book, it is like having their own personal shopper guide them through the multitude of available products, enabling them to choose both essential items and those they think would best suit their particular lifestyle and budget.
The book gives a small number of star buys for each product category - the categories encompass key baby product buys, everything from highchairs and travel cots, to nappies and pushchairs.
They are chosen based on years of experience of testing baby gear and working with literally hundreds of parents, alongside the book's 'parent panel' of testers and reviewers. Due to the independent nature of the book, readers can be reassured that the selections are totally unbiased. A star buy will offer good value for what it is and will in the author’s view, be the best of its type.
The book is very close to our hearts here at Close as not one but two of our products – the Pop-in New Gen nappies and the Caboo DX – have been awarded star buy status. The book is now available to buy online directly form our website check it out and take a closer look at our two star buys.
